A friend of mine recently bought a privately imported agricultural spec 406 mog with pto's , hydraulics, 3point linkage, 3 way dump body etc.
To get around various legal hurdles re the truck not having any previous registration history he intended to register it here in Melbourne Aus for private use (recreational) as a tractor, but the regs state that the vehicle must have either centre steer or right hand drive. left hand drive is not acceptable. I had a bit of a look at it and concluded that due to the clutter of all the extras, plus the engine (5.7 NA deisel) offset to the right, in addition to the right side of the cab being very cramped that a RHD conversion would be a very time consuming and tedious exercise, even before we get into sourcing a suitable steering box, relocating panhard rod, reshaping or manufacturing steering arms etc.
I think at least one or two 406 owners in the UK would have successfully completed such a conversion, and if so any links or guidance anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated.
Wang.
