Could build a house with the amount of sand we brought back

Thanks Not sure what the plan is yet but the car maybe sold and i need to sort a few problems at home - then maybe in a year or so a new lighter Rizla ice will be built with a LS engine and a lot more horsepower.

Again, fantastic achievement. It sounds lovely !! I was physically willing you up the hills as I ate my cornflakes this morning !!
From an engineering point of view, I am interested in what other improvements could be possible for this sort of event. Instant power is obviously needed, is nitrous widely used ? What about the suspension, could independent suspension help stop the bouncing a bit ? What about weight, could a mid ship motor, perhaps a flat 4 reduce the CofG height a little ? The paddles seam to struggle on the traverses, do they need a bit more side grip ?
Are the regulations fairly tight about all this ?
Mark

Hi Mark - Nitrous is used on nearly all the cars most run cast block chevy's running on carbs but a few now are going over to the LS engines as there much lighter - most have between 600 up to 1000hp the 2 yellow jeeps on the film have small blocks and Nos giving them 900hp
You can use any suspension but the rules state you must use air bumps or air shocks - some are now going the lightweight car , instead of the heavy big block and dana 60 axle cars of old - i was thinking Lexus V8 and Nos and toyota axles might make a good car ?
The paddles are for the class and the Un-limited class have the bigger bucket tyres - If i had a bit more power then the side hills would be better.

That's my all time worst fear, glad he got out ok, bloody lucky really. The way that section was it looked inevitable someone would end up on their roof in the water.

Bit of an update - Tim brought home a very sad looking Rizla 1 that needs a good deal of attention ready for the new season ahead the cars engine has expired not even with enough power to get on and off the trailer ? so first job is to tear it out and fit my real nice and near new RPI 4.0 engine into it - then Tim wants me to convert it to a twin seater which is not so easy as the rad is there at the moment and all the fuel pumps and filters, rad to go in the rear load space but we still need to find a off road sparco seat to match the one we have as these are nice and narrow.
so if you have one let me know
also i got a new project waiting to get started the Rotrax kit that i just bought - not quite sure what do make of it yet - but light and powerful it will be for sure
And the guys from Norway have been buying again so i'm off to Liverpool to pick up a Twin turbo Lexus for one off there projects should go well with that in there -

Mines rammed in the back now, and I'm 88" series one size ! Rizla one looks a hell of a task
But I can't really sit here and go 'ooh your screwed', so I wondered if it would take a low flat fuel tank pumping up into a header tank with the main fuel pump in it? Somebody did that on here and it looked pretty smart with plenty of rear deck space above.

There's a fair bit of room in the back of Rizla 1 and a defender narrow rad will fit between the chassis rails, leaving just room for the fan ? and all the pumps and filters and ecu will have to find a new home - should be a bit of a challenge but ok - maybe the picture is not that good to see the space will take a few when i get started on it -
As for the colour of the Rotrax yes for sure it will change thats pants - maybe a yellow ?? but need wheels and engine first before i think about colour ---

Hey Tim try not to cry to much that i took the angle grinder to your pride and joy just got to put back together now ??
Right the 4.0 V8 from RPI is now in and i moved all the fuel pumps and swirl pot to the bulkhead , leaving the passenger side free for the second seat - chopped out all the framework that was around the rad and cleaned back the metal , all we need is another sparco offroad seat to match the driver one.
took a picture of the rear space were the rad will go and i swopped the rangie rad for a defender one so saves our Tim a bit of cash
still a ton to do just to get this seat in
The first picture is from when i sold it and show where the rad was in the side
