Well - As some of you may know we've been doing trials now for years and the last 8 years abroad in mostly Scandinavia , things alway progress and my old Rizla car has been and done most of it - we done sand trials and rocks - so me thinks its about time for a new car and be the first Brit to do Formula Cool

So here we go -

I bent up some 3" tube to make the chassis and made the middle low as to get the whole car as low as possible and 100" long
-

Then got a set of salisbury axles as there cheap and readily avalible and we hope to use Ashcroft insides for more strength - i swopped the props round and pushed the front axle as far forward as possible - so i can get the engine as low as possible.

and got engine and box mounted - its a special LS chevy with a th400 autobox with a conversion to a LT230 tranferbox - the gearbox has all the goodies in it - launch control ,b/m shifter, bomb guard , manuel shift kit and should be good they say for 1500 hp.

Got to get my kirkey seat next to see what height the cage is going to be - buts again trying to get it low as possible , so it wont be top heavy.
all for now. Very Happy

got some 50mm cds tubing and bent it up ready to be welded on - and going to use kirkey seats as they give good support - this is the cheap spec one which will go in passenger side , they make a lightweight strong jobbie but with all these things its just shy of 300 quid so will only buy one for the driver side as passengers are not allowed anyway so its only for decoration.

Will try to do some more this week - if the rest of the metal comes ??

While i was waiting for the rest of my cds to arrive i was playing around with my conversion from the th400 to the lt230 - problem was the input shaft was a tad to big ? so sent it back and the new one came yesterday and bingo - It don't fit Evil or Very Mad
so i took it down to my local landy shop and tryed some of his secondhand transfer boxes and no fit - but it fits a brand new input cog he had ?

I thought all these 230's were interchangeable , maybe there not ?

so will post it back again to see if he can shave more off it .

Got metal today so will be back on it in the next few days - will add more pics of build soon - cds 70 quid a 6 metre length Shocked

well i suppose thats the down side to it all the fact that the rollcage you have fitted can sometimes be the reason you are upside down

Well the cage is near done , will do the door braces after i've done the inside just to make more room for getting in and out . 4 bars in the roof as per spec - and a window bar.

I planned this car to take the year to build !! and it will coz i'm bound to run out of money in the summer when we start using the other car for events and then flying around to see a few formula races Cool but we will see ------- maybe ready for the end of year formula party weekend in Norway next November ? Very Happy

The front is coming along now - got a good secondhand bonnet for £20 well cheap Smile

Need to get pedals and seat sorted next and then try to work out where to put the extra braces - i put an extra brace each side in the rear hoop just to help in case of a big roll -

These 4 x 35/13.50/16 creepy tyres are for sale - pretty much brand new , i used them on my old truck for one section in Norway this year- not needed now
There on disco steels at the moment - pm me any sensible offers

got a bit more done while i wait for the air shoxs to arrive from usa-

I added a brace to the front to support the middle of hoop - just in case things all go pear shaped when i'm up the little sand hills !!

Added one extra brace each side on the rear hoop and started putting a few panels on the back end - as my new seats not come yet Mad

added the 10mm bomb guard to the gearbox as needed for formula regs

Thanks to Stig for coming up with this item on e-bay 25 quid each and should make a nicer job mounting the shiny new shoxs when they arrive.
