Save your money, fart down the intake. Would probably have more of an effect. Rolling Eyes

Fit road tyres whilst town driving, never rev above 3,000 rpm and never drive above 55 mph

I can get 32 mpg in my 1600 16v vit..

Sunday driver every day!! Wink

i would love to know how something that will by its design create a partial blockage of the intake provide more air,yes it will spin but as it has no compressor it cant pull in more air as its driven by the airflow

snake oil me thinks

lol, wish i got that kind of return for mpg. If i put £30 it will do about 100 miles! But still, it weighs 2 1/4 tonns and use it to tow my off roader. When i had my sammy on the road that was'nt very good on fuel either, and the su was set up right and had the rite needle in it. Cant really think of wot you could do to get better mpg. Confused

Are you sure your speedo is not under reading with the 29's on? I know when I changed the tyres on the Jimny I lost 20 miles to a tankful... Then I worked out the distance travelled with correction for the tyres and it was the same as before.

Three letters L P G.

This site has a whole forum dedicated to it.

It's not hard to peice together a cheap kit and installing it is fairly simple to. Spend a little extra (£100) for the lambda control and it keeps itself tuned aswell.

When did u last service the vitara? What about tyre pressures what r u running them on i.e PSI? Do u have a roof rack on can u take it off? Wheel bearings? R they ok? Greesed up etc. Brakes not binding? all this well have a effect on the MPG. Get a 2nd set of wheel/tyres fitted with road bias tyres.
Fit a electric fan and removed the std cooling fan. That makes a HUGE improvement. I use to run a product call DIRECT HITS(http://www.directhits.com/) worked well did give more power BUT like i said Do the easy stuff. Service etc it all adds up.

serviced it about 4 months ago... but its having a overhall this weekend coming, full service, new brake pads oils sparks and leads etc etc, 2" spring lift spacer, strut spacers and rear damper spacers, 2" body lift....

i have got a roofack but its fastened too my commercial style hard top as an oriinal fixing... so thats staying

admitidely the tyre pressure could go up a bit...! and the bearings i have no idea about at the moment but if they need changing i'll find out on the weekend...!

im running the original fan but it never ever gets above the lower line on the temp gauge, i have got this turbo cooling liquid that i got from my local motor factors... its bright green stuff cant think of the real name of it off the top of my head

hi
Its best to fit a electric cooling fan on it not because of the cooling but the fan is ran by the engine. It takes about 50-10% of engine power. So if u remove that fan u will gain the lost power Smile

Don't forget to fit good old free-wheeling hubs too (if you haven't already). OK, it's a pain to get out and lock/unlock them, but they do reduce drivetrain resistance and ease fuel consumption.

Hi Brooem, I've never had this problem in two years I've been using my hubs, the only 'reverse to disengage' I've heard is for a 4WD lever which won't disengage. The only thing I would say is make sure your wheels are aligned straight and not on heavy lock. If they are sticky then I would suggest it's due to being full of gunk, so get them off and give them a good clean & service.

That's for the auto-locking hubs. Some Vits have them but seemingly not many...

Brooem, I reckon it's a pretty true figure - I pulled my Kenlowe lecky fan system from my dead Rangie Classic and it's made a noticable difference to fuel consumption.

Two other advantages: It's quieter - without a constant fan running, and your car will warm up quicker (useful with the temperatures as they are right now).

Matt.
