does anyone run one on their zuki? after doing a challenge event yesterday i've decided a faster winch is required.
luckly i have a milemarker 12000lb hydro winch sat in my garage, so i'm very tempted just need a pump spool valves and hoses

I understand a decent hi-speed pump will need 20HP of drive it to make it work fast...
Do it Mike !
Nigel.

or 1/3rd of the engine power, LOL
Also budget for all the hoses (with hydraulic couplings), valves, tank, oil etc. My mate estimated around £2k (inc winch) to do it right and jubilee clips aint going to work

Ibviously its upto you, but id go for an electric winch, the reason i say that is- there easier to fit, doesnt rely as much on your engine, and if your engine cuts out out half way through winching your stuck. As with an electric winch uv got a little time left before your battery goes flat. As has been said, the suzuki engine would struggle with a hydro winch.
but theres pro's and con's to everything!
cheers. Mick

20 25hp not a problem, with that input to the pump the winch will be pulling fast! mmm 100 feet a minute mmmm

If you want someone to take the Milemarker hydraulic off your hand I'm about to try importing one from the US. We might be able to come to some arrangement

I have seen a few Honda engines running the pump in the back of the vehicle mainly on recovery trucks with no PTO
This way it all bolts on and you still have winch power should you drown the engine.
In my opinion, hydraulic is miles better but its alot more expensive, it mainly down to how often you use it and how deep your pockets are.

i considered a donkey engine to drive the pump, but most challenge clubs dont allow it
