Anyone just bought a Unimog in Southampton? It's lime green, and lives in the eastern side of the city.

Anyone on here?We have a mutual chum if that's the case!

I don't know about a lime green one, but if you happen to see an orange and black, tiger striped, 404, soft top running around Southampton it is me! New to the area, but long time Mog lover.

Cheers,
Dan

Here are a couple of the more recent pics after I finished the new paint scheme. I painted it with durabak brand bedliner. It is like Rhinoliner etc, except the company will actually sell the product by the gallon and allow you to paint the vehicle yourself. Imagine liquid rubber with a fistful of sand thrown in for texture! The stuff is totally scratch proof, non slip etc. so I painted the whole truck inside and out with it. The original bed of the truck had totally rotted away, so I chopped a couple of beds from volkswagon transporters, pieced them together and welded up the new bed that works brilliantly. I love being able to drop any of the three, or all three sides at once. The engine cover I knocked up out of aluminum purely to have a place to set my coffee! Damn stock cover is made at a slant and no cup holder to be found!

The brass is actually the overflow tank for the radiator. I stripped the paint off when I was prepping the rest of the interior. When I saw it was all brass I decided to leave it alone! I thought it looked cool "natural".

Nice usable mog!
How easy is it to clean mud and grime off the textured surface?
Toying with using it on mine to help hide it's roughness Very Happy

Actually cleaning it is not so bad. I thought it would be much worse because of the very rough texture, but it cleans up fairly easy. That being said, you cant really wipe it with a terry cloth like a normal paint job! But it hoses off fairly well, and I LOVE the fact that I can plow through trees and brush and what not and never worry about a scratch. The stuff is bullet proof.

cheers,
Dan

I dont know any of the local clubs, locations, or any events going on in the area, so I would be thrilled for a chance to go give the old boy a workout. Unfortunately my carb crapped out on me AGAIN today. So I have to do some more repairs to get it roadworthy once more.

See here for the AWDC event.

http://awdc.co.uk/data/awdc.nsf/94ade8bdc4ff098...98025741e003d6c8e!OpenDocument

It's an open driveround, but they have invited some heavy 4x4 machinery down as well.Should be a good laugh.I'm sure you can find Bordon using multi map etc.Takes me 45 mins from my gaff, and we have a few Jeeps/LR/G Wagon etc leaving from mine in convoy.

The LPG conversion is half finished, the new Super Swamper Iroks are ordered. If all goes well I should definitely make the event to try out all the new kit! I can't wait.

Thankfully we have a lot of heavy equipment vehicles and the like at work so I can duck into the shop and use the tyre machines there to mount it all myself.
