The 'Coolant Interface Module' is small black box which allows the use of a Range Rover coolant cap (Land Rover part number PRC7925) on alternative vehicles. The cap includes a float which operates a reed switch, opening the switch contact when the level is too low. A series resistor of 680ohm is built-in making direct interface with a relay difficult. The Coolant Interface Module allows the cap switch to drive an external warning lamp and/or buzzer to signify loss of coolant.

The device comes with comprehensive instructions:

For more information and example of the device in operation see THIS difflock thread. Please note that I am only supplying the interface module, you will need to purchase the coolant cap float-switch (available from Land Rover and other parts suppliers) and a lamp or alarm to complete the installation.

If you would like Coolant Interface Module please send a cheque payable to "TEB Technology" for 17.63 to:

I have just been prompted to update this thread. Please note my new address is:

I can still supply this little interface box if anyone needs it.

Much has changed since I was a regular contributor to Difflock:

Lots of messing about with solar PV, a chuffing big battery (1.5tonnes) to store the energy, a big inverter so we can be grid isolated and a not so successful wind turbine. More at http://birt.org.uk

Some things don't change: I still have the Defender (270k miles) although it's a bit sad - needing welding at the bottom of the 'B' and 'C' posts, however, my low coolant level system is still working fine.

Welcome back Tim,

We've missed you, or at least we've missed the pictures of your level shelves.
