|
|
|
I've finally got a couple of reliable sources for wvo so I have set up my filter socks in the shed.
Starting with 50 then 25,10 and finally 5 microns.
I have filtered about 140 liters so far and it has seemed to go quite well.
I went to pour in some of my liquid brown and noticed animal SPAM about two thirds of the way down the container.
The filtered WVO had been left about 2 weeks since filtering.
Should I leave the the oil longer then re filter at 5 micron or possibly 1 micron ?
Just trying to work out how long to leave the oil.

2 weeks is good in this weather.
As for the thick gloopy stuff - hang it in a spare 25micron filter bag for a week or 2 and you get some good oil off it, then you're just left with hard SPAM to bag up and bin.

there was what looked to be animal SPAM in the filtered oil 2 weeks after filtering it.
I re filtered it through the 5 micron filter and a fair amount of animal SPAM was filtered.
What can i do to reduce this ?
Thanks

Also thinking about having a go at bio diesel could anybody recommend the amount of chemicals they use and I have read conflicting information so what chemicals would be best suited to the process please ?

You need to settle it out in a barrel with a tap right at the bottom and another tap 20cm up, draw any crud off from the bottom tap and take your clean oil from the upper tap.
Don't forget, in this warmer weather your car will run on any sufficently thin fats.
but you may get clogging in the winter.

I won't say anything on bio except you need to build a processor...
Don't get robbed by buying one.
the forum on www.vegetableoildiesel.co.uk is a good source.
