I can't remeber the name of the company we got our Iriduim phone from, but I do remember it made a very expensive door stop. Was a load of rubbish.

try typing globalstar sat in yahoo, UK only and should get you a few suppliers .
I have used their system , worked very well in Oz and thru Europe, its not cheap but you have contact when you need it. You pay when to make a call and when someone calls you , so dont give your number to too many people

Try this guy, very helpful when I was making enquiries:
Graham Leitch
Sales Executive
SatCom Group
Tel: +44 (0)1722 439204
Fax: +44 (0)1722 410777
Web: www.satcomgroup.com
Skype: satcomukgl
Also company in Great Yarmouth that supplied me with an Irridium unit a few years back:
Applied Satellite Technology Ltd
Satellite House, Bessemer Way, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk NR31 0LX
Tel: 01493 440011
Both can do Thuraya and Irridium, which you need depends on where you are going.

I used Irridium from the Canadian Arctic to Texas, sending pictures on email back to BBC from Toshiba laptop no problem at all as long as you weren't under a tree/building. If it did drop the signal it picked up the message where it left off rather than resending whole thing. No critism and was cheaper to call out on than the mobile. Only expensive to call in to.
