Has anyone used the Weber 500 on lpg on a Rover V8 3.5 or 4.6.

Have heard various opinnions on this carb but none about it's performance on lpg.

As with any carb, when running on LPG it just becomes a complicated throttle and gets in the way. But you does need it for petrol Smile

For this kind kind of carb you need a so-called 'active' mixer, which has a vacuum operated lifting plate.

Piccies at RPI - http://www.rpiv8.com/faq-lpg-gen-front-end.htm read down for 'active mixer'.

Once you've seen what you want, shop around for a 'Sprint Gas' unit (for that's what it really is) at a better price.

Fitted these, works fine, fiddly to set up right initially and an exhaust analyser would help. Not useable with snorkels.

cheers, Ross K

I wasnt planning a snorkel so this may not matter. My original SU set up was very poor on petrol and poor on gas. I believe I didnt have the correct needles for the SU carbs and wondered if the weber was easier to set up "out of the box" i.e. fit and adjust on an analyser.

If the Weber is more efficient on LPG this is a bonus, I had seen the active mixer, is this a device that restricts the air flow so that the vacuum is boosted?
