I bend 42mm with my cheapo bender too,
I use a former designed for 48mm (1 1/2 blue band) i bent a lenght of 48mm filled with sand (to stop it deforming) then cut it open and use it as a filler in the die to bend the 42mm.
i also use a couple of bits of 48mm on the little rollers to stop the dents.

cut some bushes today for the joints that are not available off the shelf. And as you can see the chassis is painted in a few coats of polly paint.

for those that asked about the steering joints here you go 2 roller bearings the 2rs type (2 rubber seals)
Then some turned sleeves.
Turned some nylon spring seats to stop any creaking.
And some shaped spring clamps they are twisted so they follow the coil snugly

i didn't think the stock motor mounts were up to the job so i fabed up some new ones
And welded some strengthening in to stop any flexing

I don't normally comment in the Custom Builds section because we are not really supposed to but...................... What a build. My eyes have nearly been out on stalks with some of the fabrication work. Looking forward to seeing the completed artical.

did a bit of plumbing today. Fitted all the high pressure fuel lines all in stainless steel. Tough stuff to flare but worth it . And brake lines much easyer

finnished off my t/brake the disk has been mounted for a while but i needed to mount the caliper. Cut a braket from spring steel so i could get the caliper to float and pull over when applyed and spring back when released.
All set up and cable braket fitted. Im quite pleased how it came out it works great

been at it good this weekend fabed up some outriggers to run along side the original front body mounts. If you look at the under side of the box sill's (rocker's) you will see the inserts that they bolt to the chassis has spreader plate's for the outriggers to weld to. I also got the rear bulkhead boxed in and the tub bolted on for good this time.

bolted up the front clip today and then the hood and oh bloody hell it didn't fit or should i say it wouldn't close.
There 16v motors are bloody tall. The first thing i thought of was bulge the hood but i didn't like that idea so i looked what was fouling. It was the induction pipe and the front of the inlet. So i shaved some from the manifold
Then cut and shut the inlet pipe mounting braket
Cut some from the throttle cable braket
happy now it fits
