Here's my little un
Front grill is forward since there's a pair of kenlows in there since the diesel engine is a little longer than the stock lump.
and starting for the 2nd time (suppose it's the first, but had to grab the camera )

I like your Mog Minmog. Very tidy, it just looks right.
Would there be a thread or info anywhere on your diesel conversion?

Did you get your Mog from Headly in Hampshire? There has been one parked there for years and it has now gone?

minmog wrote: | I got the Mog from Suffolk. There is no build thread for the engine conversion, but I can tell you it's an LD28 with the exhaust manifold from a 280ZX to use a Garrett T3. With 10 psi of boost an a straight through exhaust the engine sounds really sweet. Later on this year I'm going to be fitting a new cab so when I do the swap I'll take some snaps for you. By the way a custom inlet manifold is needed for this conversion other than that it's nearly a straight bolt up job. The engine sat on the back in the picture is a spare unit, so you can see it is very similar in size to the M180.

New cab, er it looks tidier than mine lol.

Hi guys, just stumpled upon this forum the other day. You have a nice Mog section here! Love it! This is my Mog 404, some of you will probably have seen it on LR4x4. It's a 1964 Ambulance 404. I have made a couple of alterations though..

What size wheels/tyres are those?
Is there anything they DON'T rub when it really flexes the chassis/suspension?Looks great though.
Where in the UK are you?

I <really> hope that they are 14.00's and not 12.00's Or at least taller than a 44.
I've a set of 44's I'm going to be fitting to me 404, and they look gargantuan!

Hi guys.
Sorry not from the UK at all. I'm from Denmark.
Yes they are 14.00's Nokia Tyres. Measure in at 49,5 inches aired up.
And yes they do rub alot, but not so much as to present any major problems except ofcourse to the fenders

Whats going on with that front bumper in the cross axle photo? is that chassis flex or is the tyre moving the body? It seems square in the earlier picture?
I am going to put on my 12.50 x 20 wheels now I have power! but I have calculated a 20% increase in gearing over the standard 10.5 x 20 - thats a big jump!!

Yes that is chassis flex. All 404's do this, that's the reason why the cab is only mounted at one point in the front.

I just love a frosty morning! Today the frost was hard enough to go in and get that big Maple from the side of the hill. I reckon there is the best part of two tonnes on there and with this turbo Iveco motor I got her up into 4th coming out of a quite steep field. I took a bit of a long shot on this motor but it is proving a worthwhile conversion!

Here is ours, it is still in Military green but will be Merc Light Green with Red Chassis/wheels when we get to Poland (re-spray is cheaper there). (A colour change is sensible because we are near to two borders and may stray when off roading in the mountains.

How does that Pinz perform against the Mog? Is it still petrol? I took some serious Ash out of the valley yesterday - we were talking 45 degree up the slope and she waltzed up in 2nd - difflocks in! It was a race against the sun thawing the bank though!

Hi Turnip, Pinz versus Mog, ????Horses for courses really, the Pinz has tackled some amazing stuff on Salisbury plain, ie: down one side of a steep, grassed, banked track and then up the other with no problems at all. Places I have gone with trepidation in a Landrover it goes without fear!!! In the woods it is supreme, the ruts have to be really deep and made by something big to stop it.
The Mog is big/tall and feels it in the woods, you have to go careful unless you don,t care about bashing the cab. But in the open, just unstoppable (so far - have to get a big winch)
These are going to be my Farm trucks, like yours, they will be getting in the firewood, it,s all wood fired where i,m going. I,m moving to Poland as soon as I can sell my house. Hundreds of miles of tracks over hill and through forest and not a single 'Forestry Comission - KEEP OUT' sign. NO TRO,s just freedom to drive and enjoy.

I forgot to say, that the Pinz has had a Pinzmeister Diesel conversion. It has a 5 Cylinder 2.9 Non Turbo from a Sprinter van. The economy is great , 30MPG easy, but the engine is a bit of a slogger on hills and low gear is necessary, perhaps the turbo version would have been better, but like a Mog 404 it puts the HOT Turbo in close contact with the engine cover and thus to someone,s leg. I wouldn,t do it for speed as the Pinz is like the Mog and cruises most happily at 80KPH though it will do 100KPH if you don,t mind going to Max revs.

We've got a good snow dump this year followed by a - 12 deg C frost. I know that some of you overseas guys will think us bunch of pussies for making a song and dance about it - but UK is just not equipped for it!
Gloucestershire road clearance is mostly by farmers pushing snow ploughs on tractors which do a great job of compacting the nice grippy snow into a couple inches of ice!
I was hauling logs earlier when I came upon this Audi A6 wedged between two hedges on a 1 in 6 lane - quick detour to get above him - I was most worried about backing down to get him and not being able to stop! You couldnt stand on this stuff!
Difflocks on and two wheels up the hedge - no prob Mog!
His wife came out with a bottle of amber liquid (on the wing) I tried to refuse but............ He then set off to London!! another 130 miles!
