It had to happen I suppose. Read enough here there and everywhere that bio clogs it up, and I can confirm that it does.
Fitted new fuel filter and now it's as sweet as a nut again.
Been advised to fill up a small container with the bio I'm using, and let it settle for a couple of days before final inspection, as the garage that fitted the filter has had reports by other users of this particular bio supplier, of bits of the rapeseed stems etc not being filtered out properly.
I fear we may be beginning to see some 'cowboy' bio suppliers emerging in their quest for a quick buck.

Don't forget that Bio rakes all the years of accumulated crud from your diesel tank and pipes, your new filter should last a lot longer.
I should have a soloution for replacing expensive automotive filters very soon!

Yea, I believe so, but the geezer concerned said that upon inspection of a filter he managed to actually open up, he found tiny bits of 'green stuff', presumably 'clippings' from the rapeseed plants.
I'll report back once I've let a milk bottle full of bio settle for a few days.
Should be interesting.
I'm intrigued about this fuel filter 'solution' of yours.
Any make and model by any chance, or is it going to be a universal 'in line filter' based on the wife's old suzzies ?

Its an inline filter that is quite large and has a choice of filters from 250 Micron to 1 micron.
The new housing is £9.50 to buy and a new Filter is £1.59

4xfun, green bits in the filter? Rapeseed clippings??
If it's proper biodiesel it should NOTHING in it, the biodiesel should be a golden colour, crystal clear, no cloudiness. It shouldn't have ANY bits in it. Do they filter their biodiesel after washing it. We filter ours down to 1 micron absolute. Are you sure it's biodiesel they are selling and not 'modified veg oil' ?
Next time you go and get some biodiesel, take a clean jam jar with you and ask them to put a drop in it so you can actually see if it has got 'bits' in it, and you can see it's clarity.

What Bev said ^^^^^^^^
I can't see there being bits of Rapessed in the oil, Rapeseed isn't green when harvested, is filtered when pressed and bio is usually filtered again...

What I said i am going to do in post 1!
I'm only repeating what I was told this avvy. My test will be the proof or otherwise I hope.
All sounds a bit far fetched to me tbh, but without wishing to sound snobby, I have seen a 'delivery' of this bio at the garage....out a large translucent container in the back of a battered old Tranny van. Didn't look very professional tbh, but hey ho, who cares as long as it's the pucker stuff.

Britpart equivalent LR 300Tdi fuel filter is £2.39. Not excessively expensive IMO, but if you can save a few pence why not?

Some of the boys running more exotic stuff like Ssangyongs etc pay upwards of £6 for a filter element...
Gets expensive changing them every 500 miles because you bought some dodgy Bio 2000 miles ago...

The standard fuel filter for my Cherokee should cost £18
I got one, it did not fit, took the codes off the old one and they only cost £2.50 - owner before me must have changed it

How much for a filter?!! £10+!! And £38 is just a bad joke.I would recommend taking a firm grip of whatever filter housing you have and throw it as far as you can. Surely can't be too difficult to connect your feed pipe to a CAV filter head, ala ford escort diesel, the ones with the built in prime pump on the top, they're only about £25 new your local factors and ****** all second hand from a breaker. We use them on our forestry machinery. If you buy a few filters at a time you can usually get them for less than a couple of quid. The standard 200 tdi filters are only a couple of quid, have a built in sedimenter and I don't suppose the filter heads for these are very much to buy.
