hi turnip
l am impressed with that cab of yours, especially the front view, whats the story behind it ? did you build it ? or buy it, or is it commercially made
got any more close up pics, the more the better , does the bonnet open ?

l am interested in this as l have a mog with no cab and am considering building one, l was planning some thing a bit more forward control or may be even using a cab off a nissan cabstar, but your cab has got me heading towards the build my own route again, l have access to a press brake and guillotine etc so building something with lots of folds and flat edges wouldn't be too difficult
can l can and have a look sometime, maybe over xmas ?

cheers andy

Hi Andy,The cab is a one off, we think it was built as a film prop for a "Mad Max" or "Judge Dread" type of movie. It was a full length body when I got it but the builder obviously didn't appreciate that a Mog is meant to flex and made the whole thing rigid and very heavy. The rear body was tiny and you could hardly get a spare wheel in. It was made of 3/4" ply with 20 swg galv sheet over - so it had to go.
I cant help thinking that two people built it because some of it is superb and other bits are rubbish.
I will get you more shots to look at and yes you are welcome to inspect over Xmas - I'm in Dursley Glos , about an hour from Brum (bit longer in a Mog)

Hi,

nice cab on that unimog

is this a 404.0 or a 404.1? I wonder how the steering column is relocated. With a 404.0 (406ish cab) the column has a ' knuckle' joint and is it easier to relocate the column.

regards, Ronald

To all Turnip Cab fanciers......I took some more pix of the cab on my phone and I hope these will copy over.

The steering column is I think Vauxhall with a universal joint onto a power steering box from a later Mog?

Brakes are Mog drums powered by an air operated master cylinder from a Leyland Roadrunner 7.5 tonner, they are awesome and I can lock all 4 wheels on the air handbrake to winch the boy's landrover out!

It certainly reminded me of those South African built vehicles.
