Ian
I have heard about the coming demise of CB in the UK and its replacement with PMR446. I need a new CB but I'm loathe to spend the cash on obsolete technology, what can you advise?

CB is dead - long live CB!
Your info is nearly correct - the 40 UK channels are being re-allocated but the 40 european (CEPT) channels are the licence free alternative. The CB offered above has all 80 channels in FM and AM therefore allowing it to be legal throughout europe (and the rest of the world)
PMR446 is an option for short range hand held comms but, despite claims from the manufacturers, the range of PMR446 is quite short. Also you cannot get a fixed/vehcile type radio in PMR446.
I hope to have a PMR446 offer for Difflockers in the near future but, to be honest, the units I sell are higher end and are a lot more expensive than the crap sold in Argos or Tesco etc.

Ian - I still keep on meaning to get one of these thingimugubbinges - but I don't understand how you could select UK, UE or EC when using it in the UK. To me that means all the 80 bands or am I being really dense?

Yes the 770 comes with 80 channels AM & FM. The handbook gives a list of what to use where and how to select the correct band for the country you're in.

Tut tut tut
You come onto the Trusted Traders forum, onto a thread offering CBs at a discount and you ask for a cheaper alternative.....You ought to be ashamed of yourself.
I only have the highest praise for both Ian's products and his professionalism in handling my order.

Yes there are cheaper CB's out there but I don't do cheap.
The TTi is a very reliable, well spec'd CB at a reasonible price. I only sell products that I am happy to use, and do use, myself.
Richard - I'll start a new thread on aerials. But I do a choice of whip with a choice of mount for £20 inc delivery for Difflockers
