hi all, ive just started filtering my wvo, got:
5x 120L barrels
1x25 micron
1x10 micron
1x1 micron

ive just put a batch through to 10m tonight and wanted to know what i should be doing.

ive put some in a frying pan and there is no boiling/spitting what so ever.

so do i just put it through 1 micron and leave it to settle overnight?

what immersion heaters have you used?

thank you very much!

far easier to put the filter bags inside one another so 25 inside 10 inside 1 micron , that way you only filter once.Dont heat it....cold filter is best!!!You only need to heat to remove water

i use all three barrels at once.

i now have 4 filters over each barrel so i can filter 120L at any one time.

i run 50, 10 then down to one, only when the one barrel is 3/4 full (just below the filters) do i turn the immersion heater on. i leave it for about an hour and thats it. although with my car i can filter, draw off and run car in one sitting so to speak.

depends how much you need to process at once.

you heat it to help speed up the drop out of water - so if no water no need (though lots don't heat at all, just give it time)

no, i never said that jack

unless your 40L is really manky you wont see any water from such a small amount.

firstly, do you have multiple taps in your barrels?

do you have the immersion heater fitted already?

coz you don't want to start if you haven't

i havnt got the immersion heater yet. any specific type you would reccommend?

yes, the settling barrel (120L) has 4 taps, one right at the bottom one 6" up, one 15" up, one 30" up

ok, the settling barrel also needs the immersion heater.

i used the cheapest copper one i could find, about 8 quid iirc. and yes i know copper reacts, but i use 100L per week so it aint in there long enough.

you also need twin taps in your other barrels, my 50M (1st stage) collects the most water Wink

i also have a rotary pump that can be used to pull the water out if need be Wink
