I'm thinking of buying a G reg Mk 1 V6 Petrol engine SWB Pajero which has been converted to run on the LPG. Does anyone know if these are good engines for this convertion?

I know the Pajeros are good as I have had one for 6 years but mines a 2.5td. Ive never had a petrol so I need something thats gives me at least 25 mpg on a run.

Cheers

Keith

This might be better posted on Pajero Owners Club.

Not that there's anything wrong with Difflock, there's just more people on POCUK who might be able to help in this instance!

Alaric.

Nothing wrong with the engines on LPG.

But there are good and bad conversions. Japanese V6s typically have convoluted manifold tracts with internal flaps and suchlike. These don't suit the cheaper single-point LPG systems at all. Look for signs of backfire under the bonnet - bandaged air filter boxes or intake hose, scorched soundproofing. Not sure if a Pajero of that age has this kind of "hi-torque" manifold?

The other thing to think about is how & where the LPG tank has gone in. Does it intrude on the load space, and do you care? Is the petrol tank reduced in size and is that a problem? What's the range on LPG, less than 150 miles is a royal nuisance.

Good luck, Ross K
