I'm running my 3.0 surf on 50/50 and it actually runs better (for now) I know there could be some long term effects but I plan to increase the mix ratio gradually to 80/20 next summer. It's more of an experiment than a cost cutting thing, after 10,000 miles I will take the head off to see if it's causing any damage. I already looked at injector nozzles after 2000 miles and they look ok, no carbon or burnt glycerine deposits.
Asda veg oil is £1.69 for 3 litres (56p/ltr) and it's LEGAL as long as you don't use more than 2500ltrs per annum (that's the mixed amount) FACT.

New veg oil (SVO) is a food which has no VAT added, using it as a fuel could make it eligable for VAT. Hmmm..... probably best to use WVO then

I thought that the biggest problem with running a Surf on veggie was that it is not compatible with some of the seals in the FIP. I believe that replacement compatible seals are available though.

Oh... I haven't heard that one, are they expensive? Shocked
Difficult to fit?
I am a mechanic so I don't mind getting in there but stripping
a pump is a specialist job.
That worries me a bit now! Confused

I think it's quite an easy job and can be done with the pump still in place. I expect that I'll be finding out for myself soon as I'm about to start running my own Surf on veggie Shocked Shocked

I think there is probably more info on this on the hilux surf forum ( http://www.hiluxsurf.co.uk/forums/ ).

I used to run my old Surf on Veg oil, no problems..

The problem with the pump is a simple one.. It just seems that the top cover gasket seal (basically a shaped 'o' ring) get's a bit stiff with age, and leaks diesel/oil when running on a relatively high amoubt of oil.

Milners sell a pump gasket kit, about a fiver, if I recall, and that stopped the leak. I only actually changed that top seal, in situ.

I ran my 2.4 on about 75% oil, 25% diesel in the summer Cool
