Hi all, I have seen a couple of different heater units for sale on E-Bay, both use the same idea of a diesel glow plug in a sealed unit that fuel passes through.
Both have a thermal cut-out switch to pevent them getting to hot.

One system the plug heats the solid block the fuel passes through, the other system the plug sits in the fuel and heats it directly.

Any thoughts on these, safety? sevice life of the glowplug? Effectiveness?

Here are 2 links to the different systems.

Single Tank systems....

IF You really must buy an Electric Heater...

My advice is buy a Direct Heater, something from the VOW2 Range....

www.vow2.co.uk

I have an indirect single plug heater (Bought purely because it was £9.99) and it is useless.
Will remove it and throw it at next doors dog.....

There's an argument against glow-plug heaters halfway down this page here:

These guys have a very reasonable explanation of the problems with veg oil, without trying to sell you there own wonder product.

problem I'm having is cold starts...

Its the oil in the injector lines that you can't heat...

Its either gonna be an Elsbett Single tank system for £600+ OR build my own Twin tank system £200?

I'm on 50/50 at the mo and we're having trouble with cold starts, I think I'm gonna switch to 100% Dino diesl for a tank, check I've not done any damage....

Nat i would put your second heater in the veg out line to the IP as close to the IP and shell crank any cold veg out sharpish.

Run it down last thing at night on BIo or Dino Diesel. I see you've moved the second heater BEFORE the veg oil filter a very good MOD WAX and Tallow Esters form and block the filter the heated fuel will melt em and keep it slow.

im on 60 / 40 @minus 1deg C to keep the unmodded disco starting so dont worry its normal............. Wink
