Laughing You soft southern poof! Wink

Aye, where I live is a good three hour drive from Edinburgh although Stonehaven is probably only half that...

It'll cost a bit to get those wheels couriered too I would think.

hi jollygreen
that really is looooong way north, l have done 840 miles in a day before now, but l am getting too old now and l drive an ldv van, which didn't have driver comfort high on its list of design priorities
luckily steveb is breaking half a dozen unimogs and has found me a set of rims to play with, and he is only 150 miles away in suffolk, whoopee only a 300 mile round trip !

A VW transporter body has also been done (I spent ages looking for pictures and failed last time I thought about this).

It worked quite well. I fancy grafting one on at some point - I'm sure it could be done.

hi

forkrentfitter
l actually quite like the 101, my mate used to have one which he kept in my barn, to stop it seizing up due to inactivity we used to take it out round the fields when he wasn't about, very capable indeed always felt like you were going over, but never did,
but l think they were designed with midgets in mind, and me being six foot six, well it was always a struggle getting into and driving it, if only landrover had designed it 20% bigger it would have been great, mind you l would say that about a 90 as well ! they must have found the smallest farmer on the planet when they worked out the sizes for that ! shame that because l would really like a 90 pick up !

shaggy/donk
don't go putting ideas in my head, l don't need much encouragement you know, l was measuring a vito van up the other day !
but as l want to off road it l think a van body would hinder your vision quite a lot, and would seriously get knocked about/damaged

l have toyed with the idea of using a mercedes 308 cab off a pick up, at least it would look like a mercedes to some degree,

but l might just end up making a cab/cage out of tube and having a buggy sort of look to it, l like the idea of being able to get out of the seat when l am stuck and walk down the "chassis" to the rear winch and throw the rope/winch line to dry land, all with out me having to paddle in the mud/slurry

but my plans are always fluid and will probably change many times yet
