Got the 421 delivered on thursday night, lorry driver dropped it up to Achnasheen, where i work and we've got an acre or so f rough ground for me to play on
had a wee play round the field before work to check the gears were all there and everything seems fine, got to get the air system hooked up to get the brakes and the difflocks working, the compressor is hissing away and the tank is there its just not connected up ... need to get a manual
found out a bit more about it, it was a Snow cutter, based in Applecross and used to keep the Bealach na Ba open (highest mountain pass in Scotland) the council service book is with the paper work showing 3124 miles at the last service, done nothing since! theres lots of pics of it before and during restoration, which I'll post on my website once i've scanned them.
chuffed ..... yeah just a bit!

Way cool!
If it was a snow blower where did the power come from for the blower unit? Not from Mog diesel surely?

there used to be a 400hp diesel donkey engine on the back to power the Snowcutter, pity it wasnt under the bonnet
just got hold of the original MB workshop manuals for the 421 and 411, with all the schematic diagrams for the hydraulics and air systems, so first day off i'll get the air over hdro brakes working

Just been out in the field sorting the brakes on the Mog, its got a compressed air over hydraulic system, the fella I got it from hadnt connected up the air so it never had brakes - he was a bit scared that the air tank would blow the two open pipes are supposed to fit up to a double air pressure guage
so i got hold of a bit of tubing and hooked the live pipe a wee psi guage fitted but not clamped on, that way if the pressure was getting too much I could shut down the motor or pull the guage off before it took off. Fired up the motor and the pressure built up to 110 psi then levelled off, took it for a trundle and hey presto brakes and air operated difflocks.
Anyone got a spare set of Mog guages kicking about???? Oh, and a pto unit, and a hydraulic winch, 3 point linkige for the rear .................
Steering feels pretty stiff so i'll need to check theres enough hydraulic oil in the tank.
