after toying with many ideas for the engine side of things in my next niva (everything from the fiat twin cams to a 3.8 v6) ive come to like the idea of having a turbo one.
this pic is what got me going
http://guia.mercadolivre.com.br/historia-lada-e-jeep-niva-5468-VGP (scroll down to the bottom) (also not it says B&S Turbo, cant find anything on it thought)

apart from the popular turbo project does anybody know anything about turboing a niva? ANY info on turbo nivas would be greatly appriciated, thanx in advance, James

Sean Huffman will be along shortly, he's the man you need for info on how to turbocharge a Niva's engine.

That's not a Niva engine; it's probably a turboed version of diesel engine fitted to Euro Nivas.

A small supercharger from a AE86 corolla would make more sense to me. The exhaust side of things is cluttered as it is. If you do make turbo conversion I would wrap the whole thing in appropriate material.

Supercharger....... just think about it.

In my mind i would go with a super charger if you had the room but a turbo might be a simple proposition.

This may be of some help; it's an archive Sean Huffman's site:
http://www.jora.arh.ru/html/niva/turbo/index.htm
I'm pretty sure he's a member here.

Also there's a magazine article of an '80s French turboed Niva on the 'net somewhere.
