Just fitted a Cavalier single point injection engine in my Blitz.
The engine turns over and sparks at the plugs, but it will not fire unless
I pour petrol in to the intake.
When the ignition is on there is 12 volts at the injector with out the engine turning over is this right?
I have tried one of these cheap diagnostic fault finders the only fault it reads is 81 injector valve -voltage high.
Does any one know what I have missed as the engine was running before I fitted it
Cheers Steve.

Dont know about your injector voltage. The only advice i can give is, is your fuel pump delivering enough pressure? I have just fuel injected my sammy and it wouldn't run at first because i had fitted too weedy a pump.

I think it delivers enough pressure as it is the same pump as was in the cavalier although it doesn't appear to build pressure it just returns to the tank.

If you are using the cavalier pump i doubt that you have a problem there.

Injectors are switched on the negative side, from the ECU, so you should have 12 volts on one side. Check with either a "Bosch" injector checker, or an LED attatched to the negative side..it should pulse during cranking/running as the negative is switched.
Fuel pump should be able to pressurise the rail, and only excess pushed back to tank, via the pressure regulator, you could have a problem on that side of things?

Ok cheers for that so far going to get an LED tomorrow.
I thought the pump should be able to pressurise but there wasn't a regulator on the car the engine came from I can quite easily blow through
the return fuel line.
