Hello , (my first post)
I have recently bought a 3.5 Rangey and am having a few problems with the LPG system , it basically requires tuning as the gas consumption at the moment is pretty bad , i have already replaced all the ignition components but am having problems identifying the make of the LPG system and which adjusting screw does what ? , if anybody can offer any advice i would be most grateful .

Welcome to the list.
Had a look at the photographs, the regulator looks like a bit of a beast!!!, can’t advise I am afraid.
When you say the gas consumption is bad, anything 11 mpg and above would be good! And the richer the mixture the less likely there is to be a backfire!
Is there a lingering smell of gas under the bonnet when the engines just turned off?

That looks like it could be an early OMVL vapouriser. Its very similar to the one in my 3.5v8Disco, but older.
One of the brass hex heads is the idle bleed screw, and the other is the main mixture screw.
I will have a look on the PC.................. I think I may have scavenged something on LPG tuning from someone else.
Mine is also gutless and thirsty at the mo.

Welcome to the forum by the way.
I have a LPG setup manual on pdf, and I have a HTML page clipped from another forum on tuning LPG vaporisers (An OMVL R90 as it happens).
If you give me your email (PM me) I'll send 'em over.

Update .......
Setup the gas this morning using the instructions Damon sent me
It was really easy to do (took 5 mins) and the car is now running much better, very smooth with a nice slow non lumpy tickover
starting straight away etc , just have to wait and see how the economy side of things is looking now .
So Thanks Damon for the info.

Excellent news
Post the mpg if you remember too.
I have exhaust probs now (cracked collar on y piece) so no point my trying it yet as mines running like a sack anyway.
I have tried to fiddle with mine in the past, but I have a lambda loop in mine which I guess overrides everything I do unless I wind it down really lean.
I just worked out my last tank of mixed driving and I reckon about 12mpg, which I think is about average for 3.5 LPG.

sorry to drag up an old post but any chance you still have the instructions available?
As far as I can see on mine I have one screw on the vaporizor and one inline between the vaporizor and mixer.

Sorry, I sold the RRC years ago, and I can't remember where I stored the doco. Prolly on a PC that has long since died.

Hi All,
I live in Thailand and my insurance company have just upped my premium by 55% after fitting LPG. It seems they have a reputation for being"dangerous"here.
I just wondered what the situation was in UK?

I have just sold my 110 that had a 4.6 V8 fitted by RPI engineering.
This ran on LPG only.(no petrol tank fitted)
Started & ran on LPG.
2 lpg tanks giving 230 ltr capacity.
Big tank behind seats & 90ltr tank above the tow bar.
This ment i didnt require a Tachograph to be fitted for use towing commercially.
It regularly did 3 miles to the litre while towing a loaded car transporter.
I have never had any problems with insurance companies in the UK for any LPG converted vehicle, & never been asked for a Fitters Certificate.
But thats using a Broker that specialises in modified vehicles.
I regularly travel on ferries, but Only once have i been refused onto a ferry because of having gas tanks fitted.
This was because of a smart A4se customs man that wanted to dip my diesel tank, & when told it was a petrol engine but with gas tanks, he wanted the tanks open.
After several hours of hanging around, they said i wasnt getting on the ferry because of my load of gas.
Just to be awkward really.
I am currently having a 4.7 Toyota auto converted to gas.

I've seen some horrific photos of casualties in Thailand, as a result of numbskulls filling LPG tanks with CNG. I would guess this is what is alarming the insurance companies.
People are just as stupid in the UK, but luckily CNG isn't widely available here. Serious accidents related to Autogas use of LPG are very rare.
