Fridges?...............
The idea was to get a Engel, but due Landy problems, unable to splash out £££ for one.
Done a fair bit of searching on the web, but there seems a lot of fridges, but few look that good, in terms of battery usage. What are the better types of the other 12v fridges?
Any help welcome,
Thanks and best regards, Mark

I think it depends what you want it for. I bought a cheapo one about ten years ago from a camp shop, used to use it 2 or 3 times a year for when we went camping in the tent but now we have a caravan so don't use it as much. It still works well and keeps things chilled.
If I was about to go on a expedition somewhere though, I would leave it at home and buy an Engel due to the heavy duty'ness' in the same way that a £9.99 sleeping back from Argos simply wouldn't do either.
I know that doesn't answer your question, but I feel good for getting it orf my chest
Have you spoken to the expedition type garages like Dingo.... something for their thoughts?
Good luck...

i'm with damian - what are you planning on using it for?
im running a cheapo which is fine for a weekends food and drink. Ive set up a split charge system too so the fridge runs off it. you might want to budget for that if you dont already have one set up

Hi,
Thanks for the replies, yes i know Engel's are great, also split charging systems. Looking for quotes on those at the moment.
I've entered this Landrally, that's a week, and then I hope to do about another 4-6 weeks afterwards by myself around Europe.
I've brought most things on my list, only a few things left; wheels/tyres are a priority, and about 700-800, if you add an Engel about 300-400, and split charging system, ???. And the bill for the latest hiccup on my landys reliability.
I need to starting saving for actually travelling. So, I've seen a few 12v fridges on waesco and such like, so looking for something temp, until I'm able to get an Engel.
Thanks again for any help,
Best regards,
Mark

A GOOD well insulated coolbox with the food frozen before you leave should last a week.
Meat should be vacuum paked then placed in the coolbox.
If you can get a supply en route of ice cbes to put into th cool box so much better.
However I have a Minus40 fridge up for sale. Aparently it needs new cables as a dog chewed them.
PM me for details. No I don't have the fridge at home.
