thanks alot big dave.

this is what i have.

i have a calmini copy of a conversion plate.

i have my whole 1300 (dead) engine to come out

i have my nut of a 1600 vitara engine to put in

i need to order a new sammy clutch kit, as mine has disintigrated.

now, the only bit im unsire about.

i have a selection of starters.

i know that the 1300 will not fit, and that it looks like the 1600 wont fit.

but i have a 16v, fuel injection vit engine lying about, wondering if the starter on that wouldn be skinny enough?

urm apart from that, i think im all sorted.

sumps may be an issue, and not sure how to do the engine mount.

I'm glad my write up is still being some help.

I found the cheapest way to buy an engine is to buy a car and sell all the bits. Door handles go for £20 a set and the manual is worth £13 etc etc. You also get everything you need and know the engine runs.

I have a SJ410 and was wondering the following;

I haven't read properly, but briefly looked out for 410 and can't see a lot of information...

What are the differences between the 410 and 413 in this conversion...

Would I need all the 413 parts listed, of which would go straight into the SJ410?

With the exception of the Samurai bonnet which is bigger?

hi all,

sorry to keep bumping this thread up! got a 1600 in my sammy now without an adapter plate Very Happy

just got it started today, the i realised there is no petrol in the tank. it ran for about 30 seconds though! Rolling Eyes

starter motor is still being troublesome although i think it may be something to do with the motor drive gear? i have tried much wiggling and turning of stuff but no change. in theory as the 1st input shaft on the g/box is in the same place, and it's in the flywheel, it should be close anyway! gonna take starter off and have a look in a bit anyway.

has anybody had issues with the g/box to t/box prop shaft?
gearbox is in the same place all nicely mounted up, but the prop seems to have shrunk by about an inch??? Confused

I'm 99% sure the vit flywheel doesn't fit in the samurai gearbox bell housing...
I know for sure I put the sammy flywheel and clutch on

the vitara flywheel is about 2" bigger than the sammy one, and wont physically fit inside the sammy bellhousing without some serious machine work..

I'd use a relay for it!!!

Also, I've wired the relay for my kenlow fan onto the 12V+ feed that goes to the ignition coil...

Easy way Wink

Hi there,

I’m New to Didflock so please be gentle.

I have a 1983 Suzuki SJ410 with a Vitara G16A 1.6 8V engine. Is stuck with the speedo cable. Is there anyway I can get the speedo working? For example is there a cable that will fit the G16A engine with the correct end to fit my sj410 dials?

You can have cables made to any specification you want BUT the speedo cable is driven by the output of the gearbox not the engine, so if you haven't changed the gearbox...
