Is there anybody here? either on "vacation" or "staycation", which in English is on holiday either at home or abroad.

Wherever you are enjoy your holiday but please, please, avoid the dreadful crude American slang of vacation and staycation, both of which are not within the English language or grammar but American slang which is destroying the English language.

In a local dialect: I'm onmiolliday, wi mi spit, truck an swimming drawers.

Hope I catch some crabs, but not from the local wimmin.

Happy holidays.

I'm very surprised that nobody on here has posted that yesterday, 13th August, was one of the days in 1917 when an apparition of Our Lady of Fatima was seen by the three children at the Cova da Ira, Fatima, Portugal.

Kind regards,

Thanks Nightbar. Good of the Royal Navy to rescue Richard Branson but it would have been better if they saved the boat and left him behind.

After hearing on the news that there was some one driving the wrong way on the M1 northbound, a bloke rang his girfriend who was driving on the motorway at the time to tell her to be careful as there was some idiot driving the wrong way. When she answered the phone (handsfree of course) she sounded quite alarmed and said there is more than one driving the wrong way, they all are.

A US warship was visiting the UK and was approaching the coast. There was a dead still calm and one of those thick sea fogs reducing visibility to zero.

The ship's radar pinged up something directly ahead which appeared to be on a colision course so the US ship radioed "This a United States warship calling unidentified vessel. You are directly ahead of me and on a collision course, alter course to Starboard."

The reply came "Negative, maintaining station".

The US warship called again "This is a United States warship, you are directly ahead of me and on a collision course, please alter course to Starboard."

The reply came "Negative, maintaining station".

By now the Captain of the US was getting quite concerned so he called again "I am an 85,000 ton United States warship, fully armed and nuclear capable. You are on a direct collision course with me it is imperiative that you alter course to Starboard immediately to avoid a collision".

The reply came "Negative, I am a lighthouse".
