Weird one here folks,

I currently have a LWB Delica sitting waiting for me to decide if I repair it or replace it. Repairing is likely to be the cheaper option fwiw.

I have wanted a D3 for a while now and it is top of my list and the only thing really holding me back is the usual tales of expensive woes on the internet.

Are the issues with them ones that leave you stranded or is it all mostly grease monkey stuff?

I am pretty confident with spannering on stuff myself but electrics are my least favourite area of car work but if a d3 (looking for a manual) is mostly good if you are happy doing work yourself and rarely strand you on the side of the road type issues then i may well just get one. If they are genuinely costly and often throw wobblers that leave it undrivable then I am out I think as I'll need it everyday.

I hear mostly EGR valves (I will probably blank them) suspension compressors and certain year oil pumps (2007 2008 ish?) as issues along with electronic parking brake crap which I believe has a fairly simple fix.

I will be using it for moving bikes (pedal and dirt bikes), camping trips so some sleeping in, the occasional sheet of metal etc so the length in the d3 is just about workable.

The ranger and rodeo (2007 -2011 ish shapes) are on the list too as I hear they are both pretty reliable and robust and OK on fuel so far as 4x4 go.

Any feedback most appreciated.

Apologies for the double post between sections…figured it would be better here than the general section perhaps…
