Hi Guys,
Iv been into trackdays and drifting for years and iv always fancied having a go at some green laning/off roading.
Looking at buying a 4x4 of some form as a daily that i can also do some green laning in to dip my toe in the water. My main concern is reliability being my daily driver. I do around 15 miles a day for work and need somthing i can rely on getting me there.
Iv been looking at Jimny's as they seem to tick the box. But if theres somthing abit bigger would be better as id like to put a dog cage in the back.
Any help or advice would be great as im pretty new to everything offroading lol

Jimnys are great, if your wanting to do green laning pretty much any 4x4 with a set of all terrain tyres will do it as if you need more than that you shouldn't really be driving along it as you just end up churning it up and making it unusable. People go green laning in 4x4 VW transporters. You also need good recovery points front and back just incase and some sill protection prevents damage in case of a slip.
I wouldn't say there was a bad 4x4 out there but they are different so it depends what you want it to achieve. A jimny is great for you and a friend, you'd have to fold the rear seats to get a dog cage in, but they're not great as motorway cruisers. 15 miles to work and back would be fine.

Bit late but welcome to Difflock
I may be a Defender acolyte and make mine fit what I'm doing (and have done for the last 20 years!) I've got to agree with cynic and say that the Jimny is a great little performer and has the ability to do more than you think and capability to be easily and gently modified (and cheaply too) to meet your needs.
