Hi,

I'm returning to DIFFLOCK, after a few years away ... I recently had to sell my 1959 LR 109", due to SWMBO (and I) developing arthritic knees, so bought an old Suzuki Jimny, which is easier to climb into.

I'm hoping I still have some friends here, but for those of you who don't know me ...

John Williams, DOB shortly before WW2, formative years spent in Croydon, 9 years in RAF (UK, Arabia and Malaya) returned to Croydon in 1967, followed by many years in South Wales, but now living in Two Mile Ash (Milton Keynes).

w3526602 was my old RAF number (1958 to 1967), but I usually sign as "602" (my "last three"). Now read on ....

Good to see your still knocking about.

I sold my off roader too, although the new owner is putting a bigger engine in it so its providing someone with some amusement. Just the pickup now, my boss has a new Jimny and they're great fun. 50's plenty but still fun!

Hi,

I hope there will be a picture of my Jimny. Circa £1,400 off Ebay. A nice little truck ... apart from the V5.

Writ big was "INSURANCE WRITE OFF". I've never seen that on a V5 previously, and didn't know it could be. I can't see any evidence of any damage, so won't be too bothered ... until it's time to sell.

I understand that the insurers make decisions like that, based on what is best for them. Pay the book value, and auction the wreck ... possibly at a profit. I have read that losing the keys can generate an "economic" write off

There's an auction down the road which only handles insurance writeoffs. You get anything from stolen and recovered but the insurance have already paid out to a burn't out shell. They seem to handle the whole range. Could be anything, if your worried might be worth an inspection.
