Hi All,
I am getting close to completing a 5 year project on an SJ. It's a SJ413 chassis and I've swapped the body for a good condition SJ410 (Santana).
I kept the Santana wiring harness as all the lights, steering column etc came with it.
I'm now having problems sorting the headlights out.
When I rotate the switch to position 1 the sidelights in the bumper come on as I would expect and if I pull the switch backwards (towards driver) the headlights flash.
When I rotate the switch to position 2 the headlights come on and bumper lights stay on but pulling the switch forward doesn't flash the main beam.
I thought the switch should push forward to engage the main beam but the switch does not push forward - I thought this might be a switch problem but others I have looked at (ebay) are also telling me they won't push forward.
I have checked the switch off the car and it is working exactly as described so not a wiring issue.
I believe that the car originally would have had a headlight relay so perhaps this has something to do with the operation of the main beam?
I'm a bit stuck now as I need to get the car MOT's (uk road test) soon and I don't think it will be compliant.
Could someone who has a spanish SJ or anyone who knows these well confirm how the lights operate in each position and how the main beam is selected...?
Appreciate any help.
Cheers

THERE IS A DIM DIP RELAY somewhere under the dash, ally box about 10cm square.this can play up with similar effects...just unplug it and it could cure the problem....i have done this in the past but it messes up the rear fog light...i cant remember how i got round that.
