Before I use a bit more brute force, I'm trying to get the dials off the dash on a TD5 defender, Ive unscrewed the dash and disconnected all the wires, how do you get the dials out now?

Aren't the instruments held in by a U plate on a couple of studs with thumb nuts?

unscrew the white plastic collar from the gauge body, they are VDO gauges.
