'X' marks the spot? X-Trail happy? Trail-wise?
Nope, I can't think of any good X-Trail puns, you'll have to make do with reading my article instead...

Good motor the X trial, wait until it's a few years old, know of one running smaller brakes and wheels and now running the new BFG AT, the lady owner seems to love it.

My dad and his neighbour both bought one of the old shape new as they saw an advert in the caravan club magazine by Nissan saying that they were the best tow car going.

My dads neighbours went back to the garage frequently with engine management lights, they told him to stop bringing it in and just thrash it whenever the light came on. The engine died 2 weeks out of warranty and Nissan refused to offer any assistance as he'd been towing a caravan and it shouldn't be used for towing.

My dads had frequent engine and electrical problems, over the 5 years he had it it cost him on average £1500 a year on repairs which when you consider 3 of those years were under warranty it's going some. He finally traded it in when after a service they told him the turbo was on it's way and the front cross member was going rotten and would need replacing.

Let's hope the new one is better but with Nissans declining quality especially since their links with Renault and their insistence on using the big chain dealers I wouldn't risk my money on it.

There certainly has been a decline in build quality and service since the Renault tie up, lets hope Nissan don't use too much plastic on the engines that seems to self destruct either.

Yes and they're not selling well because of it. £38,000+vat for a pickup built by Nissan with a Renault engine. Oh but for your extra £10k they've tweaked the chassis, engine map, gearbox map, different interior and ... a different plastic badge Rolling Eyes That said I've only driven the Nissan not the Merc so maybe I'm being a bit unfair on it.

The spec on the upcoming v6 model is really good, 3.0 v6 diesel (BHP had to be limited due to the limits of the Nissan drivetrain), 7 speed auto / 6 speed manual, low box, full time 4wd, rear opening window, good sound deadening, optional rear diff lock, optional suspension lift, optional fold flat tailgate (sadly only on the pleb models), 3.5 tonne towing. If only they could've gone the extra step to building in house rather than bolting it all to a turd... the Navara is by far the worst thing I've driven in a long time, is plagued by hopeless dealers, a few small reliability issues that they don't seem to be doing recalls on and a parts shortage. Maybe because they're trying to get s o many different vehicle badges through one factory.

VW and Ford are supposed to be joining forces on future commercials so that could either become a fantastic vehicle or they'll just fall out with each other and turn out a dog.

i know the merc engine doesnt fit the chassis as it currently stands, so they are having to widen the front legs.

They're good value but yeah the vat does up the price a bit!

You'll have to start a vat registered business so that you can reclaim it.

I think this is your loophole!

https://www.pressreader.com/uk/daily-mail/20170715/282282435345037

I like the quote from one of the lawers "A disabled, unemployed Scouser walking into a dealership and purchasing a vehicle for £100,000 - if that doesn't raise suspicion I really don't know what does."

I mean to be fair, why is it the dealers place to ask what a persons status is? If they can pay?

It's not the British tax payer or the Public at large that suffers or is being cheated but the dear old EU and do we care about them?

Oh and Ged... you pay VAT on any new vehicle it’s just that commercial vehicles show the VAT that you have to pay separately.
