I have just returned to the forum following a long absence, due to not encountering any problems Very Happy
I note it seems to have grown and is a little time consuming to navigate around.
I am suggesting this as a landRover owner and assume that Landrover owners are possibly in the majority as a single marque.
Anyways, would it be possible to have sub groups ?
Ie, Rangerover, Discovery, Freelander, Defender, Series ...
You get the idea.
Just askin'

There are some special interest groups on here already - and I suppose if there is the want for them then there is no reason why not. If it's technically possible - I have no idea!

My only thought is that landrover owners (speaking as one meself) tend to have similar problems/ideas...

...over to the rest of you out there to have a say as well. Cool

whilst i can understand the reasoning behind the suggestion, i think the titles would be too specific.

as nightbar has alluded, some different landrovers suffer the same common problems. people would have to cross search forums for specific problems.

how about sub forums more closely connected to the problems.

1) rust
2) its leaking in (richard to moderate)
3) its leaking out
4) rust
5) lack of electricity
6) rust
7) it just wont go
Cool rust
9) how big tyres can i put on (H specific forum......)
10) rust.

While I can't disagree with the arguments against it I still think it would work.
One example is door locks, I have followed more than one thread about the door springs on the Disco' only to find it refers to the Disco' 1.
Same problem, different car. And I for one cannot see how the Disco' one repair helps with the 2 ?
Example 2, I have replied to a couple of questions about the Freelander only to have my advice pooh-poohed. Then I realise the question referred to the one which I know almost nothing, not the 2, for which I know a little.
I am sure others must have similar tales to tell.
Surely can't only be me ? Confused
Even having groups for each model range would make things a little easier.

There are model specific forums out there. I have used Disco and Freelander 2 forums (the Disco one you have to pay an annual membership fee) and because they are model specific they tend to have people with quite detailed knowledge of their model. One guy on the Freelander 2 forum is a fully trained LR mechanic and he knows F2s inside out and how to inflict maximum damage - and how to fix problems. It's a good forum. Difflock is a good all makes forum but for LRs mostly Series and Defenders - and as our most faithful Land Rover lover Ged will tell you has lots of info about dealing with rust. Difflock also has other sections such as alternative fuels where Ged is the font of all knowledge in that area.
