|
|
|
The body of a Disco 2 TD5 sinks overnight on both sides - not quite at the same rate on both sides, but nearly so. I have gone over the air bags and the air line connectors at both ends with washing up liquid, but there is no sign of any leak with the axle fully lowered. The compressor has plenty of power and lifts the body up quickly, so I presume the compressor piston is OK. Is there a one-way valve somewhere in the system which might be leaking ? What else should I consider ?
Thanks
John

Hi there
Had the same problem with my td5 series 2 a few weeks ago, some people said it must be the air bags.so i ordered 2 new air bags, but have not been able to fit them.
In the back of my mind i thought that may not be the problem.
The suspension has been normal for about 2 weeks so i dont intended to fit the air bags
I haven't got a clue what the problem was.

Hi I've had to replace the long steel pipes that run from the compressor across the front to the connection half way to the back due to leaking through the corrosion on the pipe supports.

If both sides are sinking at the same rate you could well have a leak in the pipework. Try the same trick with the soapy water along the pipes.
One explanation which I experienced was the bags sealing themselves.
As they deflated they would roll down, temporarily covering the perforations, which where very fine and only showed themselves when fully inflated and coated with soapy water before inspecting with a torch.

Must admit looking at the pipework first would be my way to go, knowing how we like to lavish salt on the road during bad weather.
