Hi all, I'm stripping my Sami to nut and bolt and restoring it as it needs a lot of TLC. My question is, I'm starting with the front axle and have stripped off the leaf springs and split them into individual leafs. The bushes are shot and will be replaced but can I refurb the leafs? I've started buffing off the rust with a poly disc on a grinder and theres plenty of meat in the leafs just surface corrosion and a bit of pitting ( wish I was in such good condition after 27 years). If I put them back together replacing the center bolt for new, is there anything I should put between the leafs? I've thought of sprays but that won't last and will attract grit in there which I don't want. Ive got various greases copper, silicone, lithium but the best I could come up with was dry PTFE but would it last? Cheers.

you can just lay them on their side once assembled and pour oil into the joins
that will help them move when flexed.

OK cool thanks. I might start a rebuild topic next time I'm working on it so that I can share info and pics and ask a few qiestions along the way without starting new topics each time.
