always seem to break stuff in the worst places
drove down there with the obvious intention of driving out! The quick sand puddle at the bottom had other ideas and i ended up sunk 4 foot. Rigged up to winch out of the hole and then drive up, gave it some drive to help winch and was greeted with a shotgun loud bang.
Yep thats the pinion sheared right off a Salisbury axle. With prop flailing all over the place and buggy with only 1 wheel drive (no front locker) there was no option other than recover up the hill to safety... this pic does not do justice to how steep this was:
Safe to say i didn't learn any lessons from this and have promised not to let a hole in the ground best me - Will be trying again next week

Pictures of gradients rarely show the true angle.
Great recovery!

Got videos of driving in and driving (and a bit of winching) out but don't know how to post... you will have to make do with pictures. Chose a different line in, still ended up sucked in at the bottom. No broken axles though! Makes a change...
Had a bit of fun after

Glad you liked. Couple more for you all:
Beached out on axles in ruts here...not dramatic but long winch out...
and beached out on my roof in a rut on this one! (it did drive out though..)

Got 15 mins into P'n'P this weekend (really) and had a slight issue with steering...bent tie rod, then broke winch rope and snapped the tie rod trying too straighten it..made it better than factory by letting me steer in both directions at once!
Sort of got out with a bit of winch and aimless throttle/steering...
Temp fix to get on to trailer was a borrowed standard disco tie rod bent to fit by wedging into rock sliders and jumping on it to make it clear Salisbury diff. Good enough fix to drive through the lake to clean up, but i wasn't confident to keep driving on it all day.

I try to not let it get me down - Made the best of the rest of my day by riding around in my mates Disco telling him that he was being a wuss and trying to get him to roll it
