So as part of project pavement princess / tarmac terrorist /fast road Jimny, I am needing 18s, not wanting but Needing. Anyway I can get some custom drilled ones but they are wicked expensive, like 1500 quid just for the rims expensive, not happening. Next alternative is the jimnybits defender adapter spacers but that means that as the spacers are 30mm I would be looking for a rim with an et30 offset and an open centre which is apparently not a thing? I have heard a rumour that there is a rim with the correct pcd but I ain't sure if they are real or not, I certainly haven't seen any. Assuming i find some they will be getting 235.45r18 bfg G grips which are equal height to the standard 205s.

Found out that demon tweeks carry a wheel that is a direct fitment. No adapter. No wierd offsets. Open centre. Everything is awesome!

Are you lowering the Jimny for the Sporty look?
What suspension is it getting.
Is the gearing being left standard and just the engine tuned or replaced?
As it is even with 18" rims and tyres the same Total Circumference
as the standard 205/70R 15 they will look small.
http://kouki.co.uk/utilities/visual-tyre-size-calculator
Sorry can not add pictures of 16" rims with 235/60 R 16 tyres on my Blue Jimny.
But there are threads on the forum in the Wheel Tyre sections i found when looking in 'google images' and clicking on the pictures.
7th November 2011 'wheel fitment'
& there are Grand Vitara threads as well.

If you won't be using it much D MACK do a Trackday tyre that is both DOT and E marked for road use in 235/40R18, know of people who use E marked rally tyres on a variety of Scoobies etc, heard from a trader recently who put a set of trackday/ tarmac rally tyres on a Defender

If and it's a big if I do lower it it will only be about 10mm and only at the front to loose the bum down look it has at the moment. As for the look of the wheel in the arch I am singularly uninterested, I am doing this simply to loose some height out of the sidewall profile to improve turn in.
I have looked at super sticky tyres but I would honestly prefer to spend money on super unleaded than on tyres that would need replacing every couple of months because of the milage I do. I know it's not that heavy on tyres being a relatively lightweight motor compared to many modern cars but even so proper road tyres are really a must.
As for engine mods or replacement I have no immediate plans to do anything beyond good fuel and regular services, I know it's not fast fast but it is also a good insurance policy for my licence. The point is to have a fun little rev box that can hold it's own in the twisties but at the same time be sufficiently modest that I can drive it at 90pc of it's ability while being at 50pc of my ability rather than building a fire breathing rocket that is at 50pc of it's ability when I am all out of talent. If that makes sense.

My Blue Jimny has been on the same Spax Springs and Dampers for 14 years now, with Graystone Rubber Spring Assists in all 4 springs to firm up the springs and there is no articulation really.
Jimny Tubular Manifold on and a Sport Back Box.
2003 16 valve 1,328 CC with Manual Transfer Lever, 58,000 miles from me getting it new.
On Marangoni Vanto 215/65 R 15 tyres on 8 x15 Steel wheels good for over the 100 MPH lose your licence speeds and holds corners lovely without lifting off or braking, just using the overdrive button on the Autobox.
(no Suzuki Death Wobbles.)
I use also Yokohama Geolander AT-S G012 tyres as fitted to the Ariel Nomad for Road use, great Tyres for some offroad use and winter.
?
What is 'Good Fuel',
Tesco Momentum 99, Shell V-Power Nitro +, Costco Super Unleaded 99 ron,
Or Esso, Sainsbury, BP, Texaco, Gulf Super Unleaded 97 Octane.
Super Unleaded 99 Octane or even Hiperflo 250 102 Ron makes no difference to a standard Jimny.
As to 95 Ron Shell FuelSaver, Esso or other branded fuels they are the same other than price, no special Detergent Packages really,
Base fuel from the same Imports / Refineries / Depots.
Esso in the UK might well be from GREENERGY part owned by Tesco that produces and supplies Tesco & Tesco Momentum 99.
& others.
Greenergy have co-owned importation & storage with Royal Dutch Shell in the UK
http://greenergy.com/uk/independent
Super Unleaded is good with engines / ECU's / Maps that can benefit,
that is not a Jimny ECU,
But seeing as a Tank of Tesco Momentum 99 is less than £2 more than
a tank of 95 Octane it is worth buying, as is Costco Super or Sainsbury 97 ron IMO.

Well. It runs like a bag of spanners on asda own brand even if it would save me 7p per litre locally over the shell regular it gets for normal commuting. However going up to tan hill for lunch with the wife on regular uses more fuel than hooning off up the same roads with the boys on a tank of v max nitro super plus whatever. So I suggest that with the newer m13a vvt there's a reason to spend a few quid more and actually use a bit less super when going out for a drive instead of merely going to a destination.

Have you tried Tesco Momentum 99 (99 minimum) then,
that will be £1.50 or so less than the Shell V-Power Nitro +
and you will be getting nothing less, just the same Octane Booster / Ethanol.
I have driven VVT Jimnys, i had one with a Toyota 1.4 VVT engine,
so i know how they go or not as the case can be.

The 1.4 must've been an enthusiast creation. They never came from any of the factories in 1.4. Just 1.3 petrol and 1.5 diesel for mainland Europe.

No it was a Factory Build for Australia.
I think as a Show model / test car, there were more than my one.
The V5 had all the correct details.
My Blue 2003 Jimny is Australia Spec.
Best there was and still is IMO. Why bought and why a keeper.
1 of 200 that a Dealership brought in in 2003.
As to Mainland Europe,
the 1.5 Diesel was available in the Republic of Ireland which has a land border with the British Isles.
They get some lovely Commercials.

Sorry but a comment like that obliges me to demand proof. Specifically in the form of a video posted on YouTube showing you in the car, doing a hundred miles an hour indicated on the dash, verified by a gps device and supported by the scenery going past at a commensurate rate.

Soooo.... you want a speeded up youtube video of a guy in a kilt eating a haggis with a sticker over the speedo showing he's doing 100+...
Can be arranged I suppose

I was 7 up in the Defender back last century cutting across the Lake Distrists (heading to Carlisle Cathedral to sing evensong if you must know) and I had an indicated 100mph on the speedo, then it was 50..
...then it was 90...
...then it was 60...
...then it 100...
No idea what speed I was actually doing!
