Is it me or does anybody else feel that Land Rover has lost its direction under Tata ownership?
The new models are not as distinctive or classy as they once were. Turning out model after model and each one becoming more and more gaudy, particularly the Range Rover which was peerless for most of its life but now feels and looks like all the other gaudy blinged up wagons coming from the Orient!
Maybe its just me and this is what the market wants! but I will miss Land Rover when it becomes like everything else out there!
A little like the the feelings expressed here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=siZQHDY1-48

distinctive........ yeah ok..
classy..............
maybe the market has woken up to what has been a shockingly shoddy product, passed off as "nostalgic" and other such pathetically inexcusable terms.
maybe the market is demanding better......

Well they're selling lots and making lots of money which as a company is kind of the point but I can't say they do anything for me. I really liked The d4 but I think The d5 is awful and I just don't want that sort of technology in a car.
The one I like at the moment is the 5 door jeep Rubicon. About 36k new, petrol v6, diff locks front and rear, dislocating arbs and off-road tyres from the factory. Ok nowhere near as refined as a land rover but I drive pickups so if probably think it was a rolls Royce

I realise they are selling more now but is that not due to better reliability, which I also agree is heading in the right direction. Unfortunately as with all manufacturers this is at the cost of longevity which to me does't make sense as if a car stays on the road longer there is less of a carbon footprint generated but government tax regimes seem to ignore this as they get more taxes from this, so what about the environment?
The reason I think Land Rover have lost their direction though is the Range Rover is getting more and more like something from a bad episode of pimp my ride with all the fake jewelry and shiny stuff thrown at it which is not my impression of what a Range Rover should be. Maybe I am just getting old!
