Hello,

I'm completely new to the forum and to the 4x4 or Suzuki Grand Vitara for that matter.

I have experience with servicing motorbikes but not really with cars. Actually this Suzuki is my first car I own!

I'll be embarking on the London -> Bangkok tip in September and I'm wondering what spare parts would be good idea to take with me?

The car is Suzuki Grand Vitara 2003 with, 64k miles on it, 2.0 TD Peugeot engine. It had alternator, timing belt, water pump done and before the trip I'll do stuff like oil, air/fuel filter.

If I'd go on the bike I'd know what spares/consumables to take with Suzuki I have no idea?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum.

Sounds a great trip.
I would want 2 matching Tyre & Rims spare.
Maybe a couple of tubes that could be used if needed.
A fuel filter at least.
A really really good jack, and the basic tools you need for what you can do yourself.

Then a Credit Card or Debit Card that could be used anyplace to get parts delivered to where you are in the world if parts not available locally if needed. (the access to cash money.....)
Check the supplier knows you, what you are doing, trusts you, you trust them etc

The more you carry the more weight the more risk of breakages.
You can carry a pair of matching springs but that is weight and most places springs can be sourced or ones cut down from something else.

Have fun and all the best.

^^^ wot he said ^^^

A timing belt & perhaps some gaskets/seals (little weight but could be invaluable). A friend of mine once recommended half shafts too but that's bulk and weight.
