|
|
|
System is Bigas sequential on P38A 4.00ltr '97 Gems petrol.
Replaced diaphragms and filters 18 months ago and had system re-mapped at that point.
Driven a miserly 3500 miles since then.
Replaced both lambda last year when I replaced the cats.
Petrol side runs perfectly as it should.
Spark plugs replaced last year.
Software doesn’t show injector activity, never has, system I installed now 8 years old.
I did a firmware update 18 month ago.
I would welcome any suggestions as to possible cause / solution,
Thanks in advance.

update:-
Stripped the injectors, visual inspection no excessive ware points on rubbers at each end, all springs measured same length and all coils same resistance.
System shows only 1640 hrs run time in the 8 years the system has been installed so the suggestion from Tinley Tec that the injectors " will be shot by now " doesn't bear out.
A chat with Mike at GAS Huddersfield pointed to my checking the HT and plugs.
He was right, the year old Britpart plugs were thrown out and NGK plugs gaped at 0.7mm installed.
Now no smell of un-burnt LPG from the exhaust and a full rev-range without any hesitation.
So not over fueling but it was poor spark giving inefficient burn.
I just hope I caught it in time and haven't destroyed the cats.

but then they stop just above the floor and stay there spinning.
bloody place is littered with spinning cats.
and before you suggest free energy, you try sticking the wires up its ass.
three hours in A&E last time i tried.

Did you try greasing the wires first?

The only plugs that seemed to last on my V8 were BPR6ES, I tried others but didn't have any luck, some even cracked the ceramic. Glad your sorted!

I find turning the engine off first makes it a less shocking experience.

Well now, I put a post on here in desperation hoping to get some sensible advice.
This used to be a great forum.
I get no advice nor suggestions as to a possible cause/solution to the LPG problem, then having sorted it and posting the results thinking they may help someone with similar LPG issues and what do I get ?
The butt for your jokes.
Thanks.

In my days of running a petrol car on LPG (Prins system) I found that when running on LPG the ignition is much more sensitive than on petrol. I replaced plugs and leads twice as often as recommended, and spray the leads regularly with water repellant.
