Hi folks need some advice, I have been offered a 1990 Trooper for £200. Its in great shape for a 26 year old Japanese motor, two door red and silver, decent interior, completely original, but its a 2.6 petrol Sad
Im looking for a diesel workhorse so its not ideal but would be a great weekend motor as I do like classic Japanese 4x4's. Problem is justifying it to the missus, whats it worth with an mot? and desirability?

how hard would it be to buy a pajero 2.8td lump to put in it? or find a rotting out trooper n steal all the bits from that?

or failing that it may become classic one day but do you have the capacity to keep it that long?

have an L200 with a rotten chassis but a good engine, don't want to start messing about with engine swaps, has anyone got the mpg figures for the 2.6 petrol engines/diesel engines?

At one time it was said there was no difference between petrol/diesel consumption (on the jap 4x4s at least) obviously the torque would be better on the diesel

Unless your L200 has a 2.8 in it I wouldn't bother Wink

If you want it, buy it.
I justify things to my Mrs by out right lying about what it cost/will cost me...you should try it Wink
She will be doing it about the shoes she buys so don't feel guilty Smile
