Hi I'm in the process of fitting the xud diesel conversion kit from motor and diesel engineering into my vitara and I have come up against a bit of a problem. The engine rotated ok on the way in as I was turning it to locate the splines but once I bolted it up tight the engine will only turn 1/4 of a turn back and forth before it jams on something inside the bell housing. Has anyone else had this issue before?

Is it in gear? Laughing

On a more serious note, is it your original gearbox (so you know its good)?
Are you using the right clutch to suit their bell housing?
I would be phoning Motor & Diesel to find out what they think!

Yes both the engine and gearbox turned fine when not connected to each other and I fitted the correct size clutch. The one question I keep asking myself is that the clutch kit I fitted is of better quality and has a beefier cover plate than the one I took off so maybe it's touching somewhere round the edge.

Is it all fitted in the car now? Its not something silly like the clutch release arm hitting on the clutch basket/cover plate because it has no cable/cylinder attached yet???
