Uber bad of me to be lurking for all this time and never did a formal introduction.

Name is David and my "truck" nicknamed Hillbilly .

My truck is based on the 1996 Nissan D21 chassis that was used in the first Terrano models and the Hardbody pickup we got here at the time.

We had a company here who saw a gap in the market for a smaller SUV than the Patrol and purchased the basic LDV and added a glass fibre body to it that closely resembled the Terrano 1 that the UK and US markets had. That lasted for a few years till Nissan bought the company and shut it down to make space in the market for the Terrano, and then the Pathfinder.

Hillbilly runs with the 2.7TD1 Turbo Diesel motor which is the non intercooled turbo model as found in the Terrano prior to the ECU controlled units.

Here are some pictures...

Interesting looking truck. Not seen one of those before.

Good choice of tyres! Very Happy

What a surprise to see "the" language here, lol.

I am actually originally from Cape Town (as a kid), grew up under Tigerberg Hill in Bellville, mom still stays in Bloubos (spelling)...., then moved ot Joburg and stayed there till I lost my business about two years ago and moved to Parys in the Free State.

If you want to practise your Afrikaans, join us at http://www.4x4community.co.za/forum/ . Bunch of like minded 4x4'ers across the country. May be nice to get things going/organised here before your get here with some of the lads.

Nathaniel you will see it looks a lot like the first generation Terrano/Pathfinder you guys got over there (UK and US)..

As you will see, I have had just about enough of this rubbish Nissan IFS, and just can't wait for my finances to allow me to do a SFA. Probably a whole thread on it's own, but I have some challenges with my SFA build mostly due to a very strange diff ratio that I can't come close to matching on any Dana Diff without a re gear that will cost me more than the diff, then I have to match the rear diff as well.

Anyways, like I said, thats a thread on it's own that I can maybe start at a later stage or join in one that is possibly already on the go.

Just wish we had our own dedicated Nissan Section so that it is easier to find these threads.

LOVE those tyres, went from 245's to 31"'s, and that extra inch makes a massive difference to the capabilities.

Only problem is they eat up tie rods faster than you can get the van through the wheel alignment shop if you are fitting pirate spares. So I had to go back to the tyres that my van came with when I bought it for now, and will go back to 31's when the SFA is one day done.

I have totally forgotten about this forum, and just came across my own pictures while doing a google search Embarassed

My Nissan has kinda grown up a bit since the last time I was here...

Now sporting a SFA conversion on Nissan Safari/MQ Patrol diffs. 7" lift with 33" rubber. Still work in progress with the Patrol transfer case needing to go in to get it 4x4 again.

It's my daily drive, so progress is slow and planned down to the last detail so that down time is kept to a minimum.

NOW, I would love to post some pictures, but can't seem to figure out how to.

Help me please??
