any reccomendations for the best way of mounting a cb aerial on a disco? is mag mount the way to go? I dont really fancy drilling through the roof. Are gutter mounts an option? all advice appreciated.

Mag mounts are handy because they just get knocked off by low trees etc rather than pulling up a section of the roof. You could mount it on a bumper but that it just asking for it to be pulled off in the rough stuff.
On a lighter note: when car phones first came out mag mount aerials were mostly used and I had a Citoen BX which had a plastic bonnet. So when I got the phone, knowing it wouldn't stick to it, I put the aerial on the bonnet and told the phone bloke that it was a dodgy one because it wouldn't stick. He then got a box of new aerials to try them and of course none of them would stick. After me and some onlookers had picked ourselves up from laughing we let him in on the secret.
(OK, it was funny at the time - sorry, coat - gone).

I would go for a gutter mount. Other options include a roof bar, light bar or roof rack.

In that case use 2 mag mounts - 1 outside 1 inside...
If you mount the aerial over the driver's seat using this method you will always know when the aerial is knocked off

They're steel. I use a magmount for my d4's 2m/70cm radio
