Hey. I bought this terrano 4 weeks ago with a fresh 12 month mot from a guy who tested it at his own mot centre.
Poking about the engine bay today I seen light the metal. The area in question is the passenger side inner wheel arch if you imagine the centre of the tyre is directly below. This whole aaa is paper thin and there's little wholes were the rust has wore away the metal. It's the side were the fuel filter is mounted I'd say the area affected is at least 10"x6"

Would that be an mot fail or as there's nothing mutch structural there it ok?
Iv got images to upload but can't find how to do that[/img]

Had a similar experience with a lightweight. Sold with dealers own MOT and the spring hanger fell out of the chassis within a week of buying it!

Did your problem get sorted by dealer? Iv uploaded a video to youtube to let the mot guy see the rot..... He's 100 miles away from me so easier showing him by video than driving back. Here's the you tube link all feel free to have a look and let me no on here not you tube if it should of passed 25 days ago

rust holes have to be within 30cm of a structural point e.g. body mount, seat belt point to fail an MOT

So the areas in my video wouldn't of warented a mot fail or advisory?
I'm sure if I took that for an mot I'd expect it to fail lol

My first Disco's engine bay was much worse that that and it kept passing it's MoT.
Eventually the rear wheel arches were bad enough for it to fail ( as above, within 30cm of seatbelt mounting), so it was passed on to another member of the club who was looking for a project... Yeah, good luck with that, was what I said to him.

Thanks for your reply mate. Il stop panacking Now as it seems as far as mot I'm fine. Iv looked over the truck and the chassis and body mounts are very solid. Think il give the full underneath a rub down with with wire brush and underseal the lot. Iv got a 5 litre tub of tetroseal in the shed I bought for s frontera last year and never used
