Hi Folks,

I've got play in one of the front shocks on my Vitara. Currently it's got the shocks that came with the Calmini 3" suspension kit a good few years ago now. What's a good alternative? Suggestions?

Tbh pretty much the only extended option I can find are... http://www.jimnybits.co.uk/shop/vitara-/-x90-91...ster/prod_77.html
...and not sure how they compare.

Should I consider a standard set with some extenders on them? Bit concerned as I've got a pretty heavy winch bumper on the front and was under the impression the aftermarket shocks were rated to handle it.

Don't want to spend silly money as I've pretty much committed to a live axle conversion later this year (gathering bits now) - but I do want to get out in it before then.

Thanks.

Having said that the calmini kit uses shock spacers so I'm wondering how much the calmini shocks extend further than the stock ones - I'm sure I took pictures of things like this when I put the kit on but can't for the life of me find them.

I got 2 from ebay for about £40 the pair, I also have a front mounted winch and bumper, I have had no trouble, the extended ones look good but at over £100ea was a bit too much for me.
the ones I had originaly were a second hand set with the 3in calmini lift kit, I figured that the shocks were going to be well used being second hand anyway.
plenty of choice new for a reasonable sum esp if you are going live axle soon.

Is that two standard struts? And you've got the calmini shock spacers fitted too I assume?

Rightio - cheers. Will call into look parts place tomorrow morning - will see if they've got a decent price on standard ones then.

Tbh I don't mind losing a bit of droop at the front as most of the flex occurs at the back anyway.

I stuck some 30mm spacers on top of my springs as the weight of the winch & bumper was making it look like a dragster!

Was thinking about doing the same tbh if they don't cost too much - at least until I do the conversion. It was okay when I first put the bumper n winch on there but I think the springs have sagged over time. I don't think cutting the back of the cab off has helped much either. Very noticeable once I took off the defender arches how much space is between the arch and the top of the rear wheel. Kinda like the look though - looks "poised"

Calmini stuts are standard length, so you can use any struts you want.

Diesel grand Vitara shocks are 1" longer than standard vitara shocks.

I'm 99% sure there exactly the same fitment being diesel ones too they will take extra weight.
