I couldn't find the right forum section for Mazda so please accept my apologies if I'm posting in the wrong place.
I'm looking to buy a Mazda B2500 4x4 Pick Up (been told it's the same as a Ford Ranger) to replace my old pick up which is sadly giving up on me.
I don't know much about the Mazda but went to view one earlier today and have a couple of questions I hope someone could answer for me.
It's not a vehicle I'm familiar with so probably silly questions.
1. I had a look under the bonnet before starting the engine (engine was cold), oil level looked good and no sludge under the oil cap. The coolant level on the expansion tank was where it should be too but when I removed the radiator cap a small amount of coolant spurted out about 4 or 5 inches in the air, not a lot but did take me by surprise, the engine wasn't running at the time. Is this normal? My old Bedford Pick Up with over 300k miles on the clock doesn't even do that. Could someone please tell me if this seems normal or not?
2. I took it for a test drive, it started first time, engine sounded good and drove well. When I got back to the place selling it and turned off the ignition there was a few beeping noises coming from somewhere? Does anybody know what this could be? I also noticed that if I put the ignition on and off without starting the engine something beeped for a few secs.
3. What are the common problems for this vehicle?
It's a 2003 Mazda B2500 2.5TD Pick Up with 90000 miles on the clock, the bodywork was tidy, interior was good although a bit dirty in places.
If anyone could answer the above questions it would be greatly appreciated.
