Dear All
I have now decided to get off road tyres for my shogun MK1 LWB. The car will not be lifted and its on standard springs and suspensions.
I have spare 15" Alloys so I just need to put the wheels on. The car is my classic car (all resprayed and done up), but will using it for off roading easy routes once a month.
If I go for the 15" alloy I was thinking of using 31 12.5 15 tyre. Just afraid that this may be to wide.
I am going to drive in off road centres such as cwmcarn leisure in Rochdale or Parkwood in Bradford.
The other option would be to purchase 16" rims and get tyres for that but i need to spend £160 pounds on steel rims and I am trying to avoid it.
I want the best off road tyre out there as I have two LWB Mk1 Shoguns (one dedicated to off road and the other used for both). I will be swapping tyres ones a month.
I am also thinking of the Insa tyre (it says 90% off road and 10 % off road)
Let me know which size is best in your opinion.
Many thanks in advance

I put 31 10.5 15 on both mk1 LWBs we had. They worked great and no rubbing or other mods. They're a nice common size to find and quite cheap!
Tread pattern I don't have an opinion on as everyone has their preferences for particular uses....

Insa do 2 patterns in 31x10.50R15 the Special Track, and the Sahara.But various other tyre manufacturers make the above patterns as well.

Many thanks

The Kaiman have virtually the same pattern as Special Track so there isn't going much if any difference in performance between the 2 in my eyes.

I know I said I wouldn't involve myself with tread pattern.. but;
Both me and one of my mates are both running Cooper Discoverer STT in 31 10.5 15. Less than £300 and not remoulds, so sidewalls are nice and flexible and work well at low pressures. They aren't the most aggressive tread but grip well in most of road situations. Beware of Simex style tyres in some instances they can just dig, but are great in bottomless swamp. The very aggressive treaded tyres wear at an alarming rate with very few road miles!
