Jeep have to be the most under rated 4x4 out there in my opinion & I tried a few difrent ones over the years landrover,g wagen etc etc ..it just the spares availability in the Uk, why aint there anyone doing jeep spares competitively priced ?? After all junk like kia , yansong , hyundia & the likes spares are ready available !!

I think this is what puts people off buying Jeeps and worst of all 2000/1 XJs on my 4ltr I have been looking for a new crank position senser even when you have the part number they say it will not work on a 2000/1 XJ.

I will probably end up having to get one from the US doubling the price with post etc and having to wait two weeks for it to turn up.

I just had to get a new/second hand NP242 transfer case simple you may think but nothing is ever that simple with Jeeps.

No the one that I got would not fit on to the rear drive shaft so I had to take it back and swap it for another one that did fit just because something has got a number on it does not mean that it will fit.

From what I can see life is a lot simpler if you have a 1998 or older one I love my XJ but it does your head in at times things are probably much simpler if you live in the US.

I ended up going direct to Jeep for a crankshaft sensor, was just over £100 and was there in a couple of days, pretty sure its a fiat part they use, It has to be sent from Italy.
any parts I needed I always found on ebay there are quite a few specialist on there now.
Mine was a late 99 facelift model it was always harder to get the parts but is a much nicer car inside and out

I just had one fitted the garage got it from there parts suppliers cost about £80 but it did not solve my staring problem and the engine was very jerky so I had the old one put back on and got a refund I wish so much that I had got a 1998 and not a 2000 life would have been so much simpler.

they are good prices and they ship quickly

I bought a pair of replacement sills - £13 a side, delivered was £93 - including all taxes

also bought UJ's etc - good service, also if you search some jeep forums there are 5% discount codes knocking about most of the time

In the end the starter that the garage chap got did not fit as it was the same as the other one that he got had the wrong connectors on the wrong side add to that they was very expensive. so I have ordered one from the place that you gave me in the US together with a crank position sensor with delivery and uk tax it is costing me £159 the only problem is I have to wait until June 4th for it to arrive but I can live with that.

This is the place that I got my bits from they give you a choice of price ranges from cheep to more expensive I went with the most popular mid price range just choose what you need and follow it on and you can see p&p and uk tax if you think its to expensive just remove it from the box.
